Destinations

Where would you go, if the planning weren't the problem?

What follows isn't a catalogue and it isn't a price list. It's the five styles of travel we plan most, told honestly — so you can point at one and say “that, please,” or mix a few. Every plan starts from scratch, with you.

Beaches & coast

This is the trip where the sea does most of the talking. Think coastal villages stacked above the water, cliff walks before breakfast, a swim instead of a schedule, and dinner somewhere the boats come in. It can be lively or nearly empty — some coastlines are made for people-watching, others for hearing nothing but waves.

When we plan a coastal trip, we pay attention to the season, how you feel about crowds, and whether “beach” means lying on one or walking past twelve of them.

  • Slow mornings
  • Cliff paths
  • Sea-view dinners

Cities, storied and brand-new

City trips come in two flavours, and we plan both. There are the storied capitals — river bridges, landmark towers, museums you've seen in books — where the pleasure is walking through centuries before lunch. And there are the new-world skylines, where the desert or the harbour meets glass towers and everything feels five minutes old.

Either way, the craft is in the pacing: which neighbourhoods to stay in, what to book ahead, and where to leave blank space for wandering.

  • Skyline views
  • Room to wander

Nature & outdoors

Some trips are built around a landscape rather than a place-name: turquoise lakes at sunrise, trailheads straight from the door, the kind of quiet you only get above the tree line. These itineraries run on daylight and weather, so they're planned differently — driving times that are honest, mornings that start early on purpose, and rest days where your legs will want them.

You don't need to be a mountaineer. There's a version of the outdoors for every fitness level, and we'll ask before we assume.

  • Trailheads
  • Big-sky sunrises
  • Honest driving times

Culture & history

These are trips for places with layers — canals that have carried traders for centuries, churches with painters' fingerprints still on the ceiling, and traditions that are still lived rather than performed. The risk with cultural trips is trying to see everything; the art is choosing what to see properly.

We'll help you decide where a guide genuinely earns their keep, what deserves a whole morning, and when the best thing to do with a masterpiece city is sit down in it with a coffee.

Half-timbered houses and window boxes of flowers along a cobbled old-town street in Europe
Style No. 5

Old-town charm

Cobbled lanes, half-timbered houses, window boxes in full argument with each other — small towns where the whole place fits inside an evening stroll. These trips are less about sights and more about atmosphere: the bakery you go back to twice, the square that empties after the day-trippers leave.

The trick is staying overnight where others only pass through, and stringing a few of these towns together at an unhurried pace.

  • Cobbled lanes
  • Market squares
  • Overnight stays
  • Local bakeries

A note on the photographs

The places pictured here are real, and lovely — but they appear as inspiration for styles of travel, not as a fixed menu or a set of packages. Wherever you're drawn to, on this page or far from it, the plan is built around you from a blank sheet.
